Essential-RX is one of Chinas most important tonics
for the Yin, or fluid physiology.
It is designed to increase and mobilize the Kidney Yins
power to moisten, soften, stabilize, and root the Qi. When life
is Impaired by loss of control over manifestations of heat and
activity, low back pain, sore legs, chronic teeth problems,
dry skin, hair, eyes, or mouth, the root of Qi becomes unstable
and one might experience shakiness in the upper portions of
the body with such symptoms as ringing in the ears, dizziness,
vision problems, or premature loss of hair.
Because the Kidneys, govern sexuality and reproduction, this
combination has been traditionally used in China to restore
sexual energy for such problems as lack of sexual fluids, premature
ejaculation, sexual uneasiness and nervousness, and pain during
intercourse.
A person requiring Essential-RX tends to become thirsty
easily. If one uses appearances expect a shriveled appearance.
Occasionally the voice is low, stammering, or hesitant. Commonly,
the whole body, or just the hands or the face, can feel hot.
At times there is a lot of unnecessary movement.
Note: This formula has cloying properties and should
be used with caution in cases with indigestion, diarrhea due
to Spleen Deficiency, or thick white, greasy tongue coating.

the Essentials from the Golden Cabinet. This author of
this script, Qian Yi, altered the original formula by
exculing all yang herbs in order to treat children with
Kidney Yin Deficiency. |

Ingredients
Shu
Di HuangRadix Rehmanniae Glutinosae
This is one of the main nourishes of Yin in Blood
in the Chinese pharmacopoeia and is the chief herb in
this formula. It is used in Deficient Yin patterns,
giving both moisture and stability to the body. It is
sweet, slightly bitter, and cold, and enters the Heart,
Liver, and Kidney meridians.
Shan
Zhu YuFrutus Corni Officinalis
This herb is hardly ever neglected when the Kidney
and Liver needs to be nourished and there is dizziness,
ringing in the ears, and backache. It is a strong firming
herb and is used for frequent urination, nocturnal emissions,
excessive perspiration, and menorrhagia. It is sour,
harsh, and slightly warm and enters the Liver and Kidney
meridians.
Shan
YaoRadix Dioscoreae Oppositae
This Chinese yam root is used in many tonifying
combinations, it can tonify the Qi and at the same time
moisten the Kidneys and Lungs. Commonly used for urino-genital
symptoms such as nocturnal emissions, frequent urination,
and leucorrhea. It can also aid in digestive problems.
It is sweet and enters the Lungs, Spleen, and Kidney
meridians.
Fu
LingHoelen Poria
This herb is used in many Chinese formulas
and is very versatile in its effects. In this formula
its aim is to omit any stagnation in the fluids. It
is sweet and neutral and enters the Heart, Lung, Spleen,
Stomach, and Kidney meridians.
Ze
XieAlismatis Plantago-aquaticae
Although this herb is a diuretic, it is frequently
used to quell fire that results from deficient yin.
It has a very rare ability to eliminate stagnant fluid
without harming nurturing fluids which makes it an ideal
herb in deficient yin syndromes. It is sweet and cold
and enters the Bladder and Kidney meridians.
Mu
Dan PiCortex Moutan Radicis
This herb centers or roots the Qi of the Kidneys
and Liver by cooling and relaxing. It provides the harmony
or balance of the other herbs in this formula while
aiding in the control of heat. It is slightly cold,
acrid, and bitter and enters the Kidney, Heart, and
Liver meridians.
Xi
Yang ShenAmerican Ginseng
In our version of this very traditional formulas
Xi Yang Shen was carefully chosen to enhance the activating
power of this formula by tonifying the Qi and nurturing
the Lung without generating heat. It is sweet, slightly
bitter, and warm and enters the Spleen and Lung meridians.
