Blood-RX -
Blood Purifier
Most women looking for more energy will benefit
tremendously from this tonic. This product is ideal for treating
low energy and anemia. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome responds well
to Blood and Qi Tonic. Menstrual cycles should improve(from
a balanced standpoint-if this means an increase in blood, some
women may consider it negative), although this formula is also
very popular among post-menopausal woman. If one becomes over-tonified,
and either cannot sleep or has too much energy, dosage can be
reduced by one capsule daily, usually omitting the last(supper
time) dosage. In some situations, it may be desirable to take
another formula as a primary balance formula and use the Blood
and Qi Tonic only when energy is abnormally low. This formula
takes effect in as little as 2 days.
Although Dang Gui and Ren Shen are both contraindicated
in cases of deficient Yin with empty heat, this is not a huge
consideration since Bai Shao preserves Yin. The degree of stagnation
should be assessed: if low to somewhat present, formula is advised.
If high, this formula should be taken with another formula to
address stagnation( Liver constrain works well for this). Better
yet, products can be alternated from one month to the next,
or every two weeks for women who are quite in touch with their
cycles(eg. Days 22-7 take Blood & Qi, 8-21 take Liver constrain).
All tonics should be temporarily discontinued during a cold
or flu.
This formula may be used by men in extraordinary circumstances,
such as in the event of losing a large amount of blood. It is
also beneficial in mononucleolus or EBV, but it also may exaggerate
a virus, so careful judgement needs to be exercised at all times.
What
Does Lifeblood-RX Do?
| Organ: |
Liver-Heart-Spleen |
| Energetics: |
Nourish
the Blood and tonify the Qi. |
Blood and Qi Tonic retains Dang Gui and Bai Shao
from the original formula, but replaces Chuan Xiong and
Shu Di Huang with Ren Shen, changing the emphasis of the
formula from tonifying and regulation liver blood to tonifying
the blood and energy, without a strong regulating aspect.
Thus, this formula is most appropriate for women with low
energy and anemia. Menstrual difficulties may be present,
either due to low energy and blood deficiency(eg. Amenorrhea)
or as a causative factor(eg. Menorhagea), where supplying
blood for the menses every month and not replenishing oneself
results in a gradually diminishing amount of resources.
Blood and Qi are mutually dependent, thus when Qi becomes
deficient, blood will suffer, and when blood becomes deficient,
Qi will suffer accordingly.

Ingredients
Dang
Gui Radix Angelica Sinensis
This herb in itself is primarily Blood tonic. It
enriches, invigorates and improves the quality of blood.
It enters the Heart, Liver and Spleen meridians, is
warm in nature, and tastes sweet, acrid and bitter.
It is contraindicated in cases of excessive diarrhea,
damp obstruction, empty heat, and/or cold and flu symptoms.
Ren
Shen Radix Ginseng
This herb moves energy very well, keeping the substance
of the blood moving about to create a feeling of increased
central energy. It enters the Spleen and Lung meridians,
is slightly warm in nature, and tastes sweet and slightly
bitter. It is contraindicated in empty heat, excess
conditions, cold/flu, high blood pressure, liver constrain
and anxiety.
Bai
Shao Radix Paeoniae
This herb builds blood, and helps counter some of
the possible imbalances of the two other ingredients.
It helps pacify the liver and promotes free-flowing
of liver blood, which Ren Shen might otherwise antagonize.
It has a Yin-promoting quality that helps counter over-heating
from Dang Gui. Its Liver Qi-spreading ability
helps counter the cloying natures of Dang Gui and Ren
Shen. Bai Shao enters the Liver and Spleen meridians,
is cool in nature, and tastes bitter and sour. It is
contraindicated in cold deficiency diarrhea.
